At the school sitting at the dinner table I was talking to Richard. Richard has come to the lake more than I have and knows a lot about it. It is from Richard that I learned that the island of Hovden used to be a peninsula before the damn was built at Skinnarbu.
The water level last week was lower than it normally was this time of year. It had do to with the draining of the lake for the hydro power plant at Rjukan. I did not know the lake was routinely drained nor that they had been doing so for a hundred years or so. Møssvatn was selected because the dam was relatively cheap and easy to construct back in the day.
